The arbutus brandy, is a traditionally fruit brandy, made
from the fruit of arbutus.
The arbutus is a fruit unexplored and it has many
applications because of their high concentration of
antioxidants. It´s good to eat fresh, in jams, on confectionary,
in juice and liquor but it´s more usual use on brandy.
The company Lenda da Beira, has 26 acres of arbutus
trees planted since 2006, and it has a collaboration with
Agrarian School of Coimbra and University of Coimbra,
who are currently producing over 20 acres of arbutus and
also working on the selection and cloning of species.
